Masonry Coating - the Professional Way

Part 1 - Enquiry to Smarter Home Systems

Part 2 - Site Survey

Every project benefits from a full site survey from our Managing Director Louis Harbison. This survey ensures that the correct requirements are captured from the very beginning and the aim of you the customer are clearly heard. The exterior wall(s) in question are properly surveyed to ascertain if the extent of the problem is just visual or already further progressed into structural defect. The survey can also eliminate issues during the work phase as potential problems are spotted and overcome at this early stage.

Part 3 - Quotation and Acceptance

A thorough quotation is provided free of charge with no obligation. All works are clearly listed and detailed. Remember - we are never beaten on price so customers are often surprised at how competitive we are at Smarter Home Systems. 90% of the sites we visit turn into live projects for us as our prices are good coupled with trusted advice.

Part 4 - Health & Safety on Site

As we are fully professional we always work in the safest possible way and eliminate any potential hazards on site. This means that often when cleaning and coating exterior walls you end up working at heaight which needs careful preparation to maintain safety at all times. You can have the knowledge that we have done so with the highest regard for everybody's safety and your property by ordering the required scaffolding.

Part 5 - Cleaning

Although often this is the swiftest part of the work it is always done so with care and efficiency in mind along with a desire to create as little mess as is humanly possible. The moss, algae and lichen are removed from your exterior walls and structure by jetwashing and some thorough scrubbing in stubborn areas.

Part 6 - Weatherproofing/Sealing

At Smarter Home Systems we know prevention is better than cure. For our masonry coating we only use ProPERLA sealant which is the very best available. Once the walls have dried from cleaning we coat them thoroughly, often two coats of the sealant. This is a hydrophobic sealant which prevents moisture from seeping into the bricks or render as water beads on the surface before being blown away or running off. The coating is guaranteed for 10 years but actually lasts up to 25 years.

Part 7 - Painting (Optional)

Many clients want that new exterior result. Re-painting the newly cleaned render with ProPERLA Facade paint certainly provides the required finish. Available in many colours this paint can make your house stand out among others. The exterior render is often such a large area that this process has quite dramatic results on the overall appearance of your property.

Part 8 - Cleaning Up

We are proud to say that we try to leave your property always looking far superior to when we arive on site. This means all rubbish and debris are cleared from your property and any areas touched by us are inspected before departing site. We do not let you the homeowner clear up after us.

Part 9 - Customer Sign-Off

We always check-in with you our customer before deciding that the task is finished. Overwhelmingly our clients are usually thrilled with the finished result - but should there be any small issues rest assured that Smarter Home will not depart until you are completely happy.
