Guttering: Functionally guttering catches and diverts water away from your house. If there are any defects here either caused by bad fitting or wear over time water can accumulate in roof spaces or cascade into unwanted areas and cause much larger and costly issues in the future. Gutters should be checked at least annually to ensure they are adequate for the job required.

Fascias: These are designed to protect your roof from rainwater ingress which can be carried in by strong winds. The front facing boards prevent this from happening by providing a clear obstruction. Care needs to be taken over time that these don't become cracked due to temperature changes or blown out of place due to the winds they are there to deal with.

Soffits: These are the boards which run from the fascias back towards the underside of the roof horizontally. Their main purpose is similarly to fascias to protect from driven in rainwater by wind, but they also have a vital role to play in that they prevent birds, rodents and bugs from entering the roof space and causing structural damage possibly.
