Masonry Coating - Bournemouth
In October 2021 Smarter Home were contacted by Mr O from the Southbourne area of Bournemouth. His large Victorian property suffered from lack of natural sunlight and over time this had allowed his walls to become damp and discoloured due to lichen and algae growth which often happens in dark and damp conditions.
As is usual with all of our enquiries we go to the extent of a proper site visit and survey to see for ourselves the situation and the exact work required to remedy the situation. On this visit we showed the client the array of colour options available for the new wall colourings and Mr O decided on a light grey (pebble) wall coating to be used alongside a white coating for the window lintels - a very good choice.
Remedial work commenced soon afterwards in November 2021 and this comprised of the building exterior being thoroughly cleaned down to purify the structure of the lichen and algae growth. Smarter Home Systems use the industry leading ProPERLA cleaning agents which use the latest nanotechnology to remove theses spores. When this was complete the walls were then coated/painted which instantly improved the appearance of the entire property. This was a huge benefit of the chosen works but also the coating applied prevents a similar re-occurance of the issue for many years to come as it prevents dampness penetrating the brickwork to allow lichen and algae to grow. If left untreated this dampness can lead to structural damage.
The ProPERLA coating is so effective as it is self cleaning - dirt cannot get a hold on the brickwork and is swept away in the next rainfall. Water cannot seep into the brickwork due to the excellent sealant properties of the coating agent and instead moisture just beads on the surface before falling to ground. This results in the property treated looking much better for many years and also reducing the need for further more expensive remedial work down the line. Mr O was delighted with the finished work.
